About Us
We are the Prudens. We are new to homeschooling but as parents we realize we have been teaching our kids all along and so we are very excited to take this leap of trust in God that He will continue to meet our children's needs through us as they learn and grow.
We have a 6 year old and a 2 year old.
Our 6 year old is all over the place with his learning abilities... he reads almost at a "second" grade level and we don't know exactly where he is with math... he surprises us everyday with new abilities he almost seems to pick up on his own. We decided to homeschool him because he was not being stimulated enough at school... He was bored and when he would bring homework home to us, we would be shocked at the "dumbness" of it all. He is very gifted and so we want to tailor his education to his needs. He is a wiggly learner at home though and so most of my activities for him will be hands on. He only sits still well "in school" and since I am mommy... I have to change up the game for him!
Our 2 year old is a very bright little boy. His ability to absorb and remember information actually scares me sometimes (in a good way!) He will probably just hang out alongside whatever my oldest and I are doing during "schooling" and we'll see how it goes with him! I have found though, that if I am not working on a subject in a progressive manor... he will forget things he has already learned! :)
Mr. Pruden has a funny work schedule and you will notice throughout the blog that we tailor our "schooling" around his work weeks. He rotates on a 9 week work week with 6 on and 3 home. We try to do most of our "schooling" (accept for some of the super fun stuff!) while he is at work saving his home time for family time.
Mrs. Pruden is... me. The blogger here. I am sure you will get to know me a bit through this blog. Homeschooling is a new adventure for me. I am taking time off from my other gig-being a birth doula-to really get the hang of this for my family. I felt very strongly that God was leading us to this, my husband confirmed the same and so... here we are! :)
Moose is our puppy... he is pretty awesome! :)
